BC North - North Miami looked surprisingly competent, but... Who's that fighting with growing confidence and growing strength in the air? It's the
Portland Pilots to take the division.
BC East - With Four Leaf understandably distracted and Ed's squad forcibly rookies, I'll take the Lobos Locos in
Sumpan to edge out Bohemia.
BC South - A juggernaut division, but only one team equipped to win it now, rather than wait for experience to catch up.
Montevideo Screamers are in with a shout.
BC West - One of the most intriguing divisions in the league. The Echidnas will make it a white-Knuckles battle, but I expect the
Mean Machine to win the wacky race. This year, at least.
FB North - The Auctioneers made some moves to make things interesting, but unless they can find a way to pull it together, this division's going once, going twice, to the
Paris Republicains.
FB East - The Harbourmasters still need to find their sea legs, and at the risk of disrespecting my Elders, I'm going to go with owner experience here:
Nottingham Arrows.
FB South - The Kings need more time to proof alongside the Baguettes. In a battle of flashy offenses and suspect defenses, I think the
LA Earthquake will shake off a still-maturing Will Smith.
FB West - The Lions might've shown everyone that experience pays off, but I'm a simple soul: When I see a helmet with a cartoon shark in a tornado, I know who gets my vote.
Tillamook to take it.
Bad Company Conference Champion: The wildcards will be the Echidnas, the Soneros, and either the Railriders or BC South's third-place squad, creating a playoff bracket with owners boasting more previous bowl wins than you can count with one hand. Derry takes the 1-seed and the coveted bye week with BC South having held each other back in mutual destruction. That bye week means one fewer games to need to win, giving the
Mean Machine the best odds to take the Muttley Medal.
Fail Brigade Conference Champion: Wildcards here will be the Auctioneers, Cheesy Philly, and either the FB East runner-up or Penrith, creating a pool of only one bowl win and several fresher faces. Who takes the 1-seed? I dunno, the clear favorites are in tougher divisions, opening the door for the FB East champ to ride a 6-0 division record to the top. But the final battle will be FB North's last team standing versus FB South's sole survivor. Who's most likely to rise out of that mess?
LA Earthquake, though please don't ask me how confident I am of that.
HyperElectroBowl I Champion: I'd have to go with
Derry here, by an unfortunately comfortable margin. That's not a knock to Los Angeles, this would just be a nightmare matchup for them; a brutal defense to knock the wind out of them and an offense that's good enough to prey on questionable defenses. I don't think it'd be a total shutout, but we're looking at a modestly double-digit margin of victory.
But, as always when it comes to MFN, I continue to be wrong about everything. Speaking of being wrong:
My Team's Record - The Dragons need some time and a few vital parts in the next draft or two. I'm happy with where they are right now, but where they are right now has
7-9 gracefully calligraphed up and down itself. Nowhere near playoff contention, but also nowhere near a decent draft pick.
