PENRITH, NSW - The Lions today has revealed its new identity, taking the franchise into the next phase of its identity and bringing a more modern design to the iconic yellow lion. While the team name remains the same, ownership has decided to update the logo and identity of the franchise, with a more ferocious lion and a stronger emphasis on who the team is.

"We felt that, through the last two seasons as well as our previous location being Norwich, that the Lion over those eight seasons had become tired and we felt that it was time for a change, a change that will breath new life into the franchise and the fans, who we feel will still see the identity that makes us the Lions, but with a more modern and updated look. We wanted to make sure that the essence of who we were was still there, but with a new and brighter outlook as we look towards rebuilding the roster and the franchise" said Team Owner Leam Mark Farrar at the unveiling of the new logo.

"We do have to thank Tony Spike for the amazing logo work that he has done, not just for us, but across the whole league. I am sure there are some owners out there who are excited about the future of the league and are thrilled at these logos, we most certainly are and can't wait to share our new identity across the league, and we hope that this renewal is just the first step to the rebuild and to bringing championship glory to the Penrith and Western Sydney region, and continued success for many years to come" said General Manager Todd Carlton at the press conference.

The Lions will head into the 2024 season with the logo above as the primary logo used across the franchise, while the lion on its own will soon adorn the helmet, with the helmet set to retain its white colour with the primary red stripe being changed to blue to better reflect the rebrand of the franchise. The uniforms will also be getting a makeover, with the team moving towards a gold and blue away uniform, which is pending league approval and will in the meantime, remain with the current uniform combination.

"I am looking forward to what we can do this season, and with our branding change, it is going to be an even more exciting offseason and preseason as we head into the 2024 season. I can't wait to see that logo on our helmets and across the office, because it just looks amazing. Words can't describe how awesome it looks, and just think; the logo is meaner and stronger and the Lions are going to be even meaner and even stronger and so will this team." Head Coach James Jennings has said, when asked about the rebrand.

Today's announcement and launch mark the beginning of the next phase of the team's rebrand process. The team has spent many months in the planning phase for this rebuild and has made these changes in consultation with the Official Lions Supporters Club "The Roar" and has made sure that throughout the whole process, the fans were consulted and kept aware of what was going on. The team wants to thank the official representatives from the supporters club who sat on the rebranding committee and played an integral part in this process. Team merchandise will be available at the club store and online where official fan merchandise is sold. The team will look to celebrate the rebranding process throughout the upcoming season and plans are in place to celebrate the new identity during the off-season and through training camp, to allow fans to fully be part of this rebrand and rebuild.

"We are going to be stronger and better than we were in 2023, and this rebrand is just the first way that we are saying that teams better watch out, because we are coming back, we are rebuilding and in the words of the late Al Davis... just win baby!" finished Team Owner Leam Mark Farrar at the press conference.

"When you have great coaches, then after you have great coaches you get great players, then have a great organisation and you tell them one thing... just win baby!" - Al Davis (1929-2011)

PENRITH, NSW - The Lions have announced the following at the beginning of the 2024 offseason as the new league season begins.

The Lions have announced that the following players have not been offered new contracts and following the expiration of their contracts they are no longer part of the organisation and will begin discussions with player agents over the coming weeks to beginning building the roster that the Lions will take into the 2024 season.

QB William Brown, QB Harry Abney, RB Steven Martelli, FB Robert Seibert, LTCarlos Vaughan, C Andrew Kenney, RG Patrick Shepherd, LDE Andrew Ramsey, DT Andrew Robertson, DT Ruben Huggins, DT Keith Gannon, RDE Bryan Finley, WLB Mark Hearn, SS William Carrol, SS Urban Montaigne and FS Brad Bourque

The team have also announced several players that have been placed on the league's trade block and will be open to trade discussions from other teams in the league, along with several draft selections.

The Lions currently hold eight selections in the upcoming draft, which includes four first-round selections, three are tied to other teams, that being Cheesy Philly, Zena Soneros and the league champion Stockholm North Stars. Following the first round, the Lions hold a second-round selection from Porth Emmett which was obtained in the Matthew Malpass trade back in the 2022 season. The Lions then do not hold a selection until the final day when they hold a sixth-round and seventh-round selection tied to the Dutch Prodigies which was obtained in a trade deadline pick swap last season, along with their own seventh-round selection, which currently gives the Lions a double selection in the final round.

The Lions have made it clear in discussions with other teams at the winter meetings that several of these draft picks are open for trade discussions, with General Manager Todd Carlton speaking positively about the draft picks, and how they plan to move forward towards the offseason and the draft itself.

"We've made no secret that we are rebuilding, last season was terrible for us, and honestly, we have a lot of ground to make up. It won't be easy, but we know we have to make some tough calls and we have already begun that process. We've also made no secret around these meetings that we are open to trade discussions right through until the opening of the season and even up to the trade deadline, that we have some of our current draft selections up for trade talk, and that we want to look at splitting a few of these picks, and maybe even a couple in 2025 to build our draft hand over the coming seasons, and rebuild our roster into one that is going to compete and compete hard for the division and the league title"

PENRITH, NSW - The Lions have made their first trade in the new season, trading for a player and handing over a future draft selection.

The Lions made a trade with the Reasonable Lengths to trade a future fifth-round selection to the Lengths, with the Lions receiving defensive tackle Jeremy Keillor, a player that the Lions had previously tried to trade for, but were knocked back. It may have taken longer, but the Lions have finally got their man, with the Lions earlier last season, and around the trade deadline tried trading for Jeremy, offering previously a seventh-round selection, which was rejected.

Penrith ultimately had to give up a future selection to bring Jeremy across to the Lions and get the trade across the line, where he will be fighting for a starting position, but with Jeremy providing 53 tackles and 4 sacks across his two seasons with the Lengths, he will be coming into a defensive tackle group that managed 59 tackles combined. His strength and pass-rush skills should make it quite easy for Jeremy to get the starting job alongside returning defensive tackle Andrew Robertson.

Talking to the media, Head Coach James Jennings spoke about the desire and drive that the team had to get this trade across the line and what his acquisition means for the Lions, who have made no secret that they are in a rebuilding year:-

"We identified Jeremy as a player that we felt would be a good fit for the scheme and for the way we want to approach the defense heading into the 2023 season and we felt that when we previously offered trades with the Lengths management and ownership, that they were fair deals, and to get this one now across the line only a few months later, I feel like it was the right call. Even if it's for one season, or for the next four or five, I think we have made the right call and that we haven't given up as much as others might think was worth it, but it gives us the confidence that we can really set up our schemes defensively in the way that we want and can play the football that we want to play moving forward".

PENRITH, NSW - The Lions have made another trade, this time making their first draft pick trade for the upcoming draft in a few days' time.

Penrith has traded with the newly formed and recently moved Heliopolis Phoenix (formerly the North Eastern Terriers), by sending across one of the four first-round selections that they hold, in exchange for a second-round selection (Pick #52) and a fourth-round selection (Pick #97). The Lions have sent across the 32nd overall selection in the draft. The Lions, in giving up the first-round selection now hold 9 selections across the four days of the draft and will look to further that position with ongoing trades, as General Manager Todd Carlton talked about in his media interview today to begin the new season for the Lions:-

"We are serious contenders in this offseason, and we will be very active in the trading market, be it for draft picks in the upcoming draft, or future draft selections and also for players to build our roster with, and around. We know that last season was terrible, but we have now drawn a line in the sand on that season and we have all picked ourselves up, dusted the dirt off, and we are getting on with the task of building our roster for the next season and for the future. Be that with free agents, who we have been very active in talking to their agents about contracts, and also in the trade market, that is how we plan to approach things. To make sure that we build our roster the way we want to, with the players that we feel are the best fit for what the coaching staff want, but also to renew and build a roster that can be maintained across multiple seasons, not just this one."

The Lions are now set to select 10th overall, along with the 24th and 27th overall selections in the first round of the draft in a few days' time, along with several other selections in the remaining six rounds.

PENRITH, NSW - The Lions and Auctioneers have made a draft pick trade, with the Lions picking up three picks in the draft this year, and giving up only a future draft selection.

Penrith have made a trade, giving up a 2025 first-round selection to Porth Emmett, while they receive a fifth-round selection (Pick #150), a sixth-round selection (Pick #182) and a seventh-round selection (Pick #214). This represents another draft pick trade and gives the Lions move manoeuvring room to trade throughout the draft as well as to trade for other players, with the trade block and with the annual league meetings due to begin tomorrow, this will give the Lions more conversation starters at the league meetings.

Talking to the media, General Manager Todd Carlton gave an update on where the Lions stand heading into the rest of free agency and the draft, due to begin in a couple of days:-

"We looked at what we had coming up, and we already are sitting on some additional picks, including two first-rounders so we felt that to give up one of them, and pick up some late picks across this draft, that we could use those picks to entertain either picking the best players on the board when those picks come around, or trading them and using the capital that they have to pick up more future picks, or even additional players that best fit the scheme and roster we want to build here over the coming seasons. It might seem like it's one-sided but we do honestly feel that it was the right call and we can, and do, have multiple avenues that we are exploring when it comes to acquiring new players to refresh and build our roster".
