2023 Play of the Game Thread

You know how this works by now*. I want to see some highlights from your game, it's the second-most fun way to keep tabs on what's going on in the rest of the league, behind SBTS, of course. They may or may not sign my paychecks, so I may or may not be in a position to rank the Plays of the Game thread any higher than #2.

As always, this is a place for the notable, the extraordinary, the hilarious, and the disastrous. An 80-yard catch-and-run touchdown is boring. Heck, kick return touchdowns are getting kinda boring. Show me something I've not seen a thousand times already. And hey, let's be careful out there, huh?

*If you don't know how this works, check last year's thread.

Preseason 4 - Echunga at Forbidden City

In an ugly preseason slog that was clearly hosted by two teams just trying to get players their last ounce of match fitness, it was level at 3-3 late in the third quarter with not much to report.

Echunga comes out in a 2RB/3WR set, backed up near their own goal line. Decent formation, two backs hanging with the QB for added protection or a sneaky run against the nickel. Ball's snapped... RB 1 charges forward through the o-line on a passing route... RB 2 breaks into a drag route to the left...

...and Sun Ce, lining up at CB3, behind his father and brother on the depth chart, has no one standing between him and his quarry.

Week 1 - Kings @ Vermin
As we stir the tealeaves of the season, looking for a portent for the upcoming campaign Turk Ramjet on the first play of the year...

Later on, linebacker Tobin Jocular makes the biggest reception of the game and picks up some stellar blocking on his way to the house.

Week 1 - Sumpan Crazy Wolves at Reasonable Lengths

After giving up a field goal and the lead on the previous 47 yard, 7 play drive, the Lengths take possession on their own 23, down by 3 with just two seconds left.

Not a play but a sequence of them.
3rd and 3 on the Derry 36. We are just in FG range.
However 3 plays later we are closer to our own line and punting

Week 2, etc.

[Narrative]

Blink and you miss it.

For bonus points, here's the most obscene downfield blocking on a flippin' fumble recovery that you'll ever see.

Week 2: Rhinos @ somewhere too far away from home.

There was a good throw, catch, blocking, TD, etc in here, but I'm more intrigued by the fact that the big boys who should be hitting the QB were waltzing around on the field while this was happening.
