I believe the issue is the default rating lying to you about who is a better blocker. I'm not sure exactly how often NFL teams use a 300 pound LT on their punt team, but I believe the answer is not very often.

When punts do get blocked, it's usually by smaller faster guys.

I'm suggesting a way it could be fixed easily. Just change the rating system to figure out who a good blocker would be. (Personally I've had good luck with a medium weight, high acceleration guy, as opposed to the heavy weight slow guys the Ai currently favors) Then if someone chose not to do overrides, for whatever reason, the Ai would at least pick someone not terrible.

There's probably other ways to do it, but why not do this the easy way so that more time can be spent elsewhere?

fwiw... if you google NFL punt formation images, you'll see a lot of teams use linebackers for their "offensive line" in the punt formation. They need to be fairly fast and tackle well to bring down punt returners.

That's correct. It's a slippery slope. Will you institute a ban on tweaker - min/max teams as well? That's a much bigger exploit ... there's a reason teams that average -20 overall (except for one attribute) do better than everyone else. I reached a point of frustration with being stalked and trolled by a tweaker, (his rationale being he didn't like punt blocks) and you and your gang treated me like I was the a-hole.

I popularized punt blocks (and punt block blocking) with the intention that it wouldn't be the the domain of half a dozen "elite" players to inflict on the rest of us as they chose. Hopefully it gathers enough attention to get fixed. Banning it is not the answer.

I say it's a slippery slope, because I put the same people on my punt block line as I would in the NFL. That has everything to do with football. So what makes it an exploit? Admittedly it takes some work to defend against, because the defaults don't do their job. But where do you draw the line for banning it?

Now tweaking, that's deliberately setting up a team where the players only provide the speed and get help from the engine on every skill RNG roll on every play, because their other skills are so low. It has nothing to do with football, everything with taking advantage of the engine. So do you consider that an exploit? Or because the owners that do it win a lot, does it give them legitimacy and make them more equal than others? Are you going to draw a line somewhere to stop it? You could stay true to form, deny it exists, and pretend I just didn't out the exploit in public. Then you can eventually populate Champions with mini-Infinitys.

Punt blocking does need to be fixed. Trying to ban it:
A. Won't work unless you can define a line.
B. Is the wrong way to address the issue. Trying to sweep it back under the rug doesn't get it fixed.

Your leagues don't exist in a vacuum. If they did, this whole game would already be dead. That wild west is what everyone has to live with, unless the developer and the community do something about it. NIMBYism never solves anything. Your Champions league has been a deliberate collection of people who think winning is the only thing that matters. They are the ones who have been trashing leagues and hurting this game far more than the AI or newbies ruining teams. If I think a message needs to go there, no matter how unpopular, I will post it, either there ... or eventually, out here.
