It's because Vol is what determines how far a player will deviate from a median attribute rating. .......

Yes, I understand the whole meaning of Vol. The fact that a change of Vol without_prior_notice. Vol should be vol as seen....and not a changing attribute after being picked. What other attributes drop once you pick a player ?

why? Players aren't cookie cutters. Having a player not turn out exactly like he's advertised at draft is the most realistic part of the draft. I like that it changes a little, gives later round picks more room to grow if they boom.

On the other hand, when I have 3 90+ Vol 5th round OL picks go -10, -13, and -15, I'm tempted to throw my coffee. :)

But what you are seeing is, in effect, a masking of attributes ! Thats not right...if a players Vol is listed, and goes +/-....is that right ? If so, should other attributes be effected ?

That's always the case with Vol. Since Vol determines how likely, and to a lesser degree how far from, a player's attribute will deviate from median, true attributes are ALWAYS masked at draft time. That's why you have to think of attributes and overalls at draft time as POTENTIAL and not guarantees. (Betting on Apple, not Enron, scenario.)

And this is why I just go for mostly athletic guys with high vol and hope they work out. I'm either getting a *** or a stud.

I have one set of weights that cover this pretty well now, but I haven't posted them yet. I'm working on a second set that will do a better job of it.

exactly just as playing speed and 40 speed are not always on par together. I think there should be more ratings on desire, work ethic and hustle to make guys that have similar potential not the same. The draft has a lot of room to improve and i think the fact that it's not an exact science is pretty realistic. My biggest problem in the draft is that the later round players have such low physical attributes that even if they boom they aren't very valuable. I think you get more of a better floor on positional physical traits the more likely lower round players will make more of an impact

So, would it be somewhat fair to render vol as....pretty much pointless on drafting ? BTW lellow, I'm leaning to your thinking.

0.4.3 (and soon 0.4.4 will do a better job of it) does an OK job of making slower player with good primary attributes more valuable.

A 20 SP WR is now viable because M2M and B&R Avoid help him break open routes. He just won't be a burner, ever.

A 40-50 DB can be valuable with 90+ B&R since B&R slows down a WR. The problem is if the WR gets a break on a roll, the WR is gone.
