Re: Announcing Version 0.4.3!

JDB says QB scrambling rating is one of the primary factors in wobbly and off-target passes. If the defense is in an all-out blitz against a QB with a poor scrambling rating, he is going to fare very poorly.

I won't go into all the details, but one of my teams recently took a loss where my previously-better-than-average QB spent the whole game with the ball slipping out of his hand, throwing passes that wobbled, etc. I charted the game, noticed that most of those miscues came vs. the blitz, and noticed the only substandard rating on this QB was his scrambling (14).

Alright, scrambling rating goes near the front of the line now alongside accuracy for QBs.

Pretty good evidence to lock in on it!

To be fair, this didn't change in 0.4.3. Scrambling always helped mitigate the under pressure penalty, but it only mitigates it, it will not remove the penalty.

The bigger problem with QBs under pressure is they move around the pocket for NO ****** REASON WHAT-SO-******-EVER. That's actually what leads to most of the under pressure situation. QBs rolling into the pressure and taking a sack rather than sitting down in the pocket and moving their eyes and head.

Remember the saying kids:

Your eyes move faster than your head.
Your head moves faster than your hips.
Your hips move faster than your feet.

This play, this play right here, sums up how god effing awful 0.4.3 is: https://die-hard-fans.myfootballnow.com/watch/1120#207889

The QB is not under pressure. The TE is WIDE OPEN. So the QB throws the ball randomly 40 yards down field to a WR that is being covered.

The randomness of 0.4.3 is so BAD. The version needs to be reverted.

It shouldn't have been released, but that's a whole other story. 100 everything QB can't complete 50% against the leagues worst secondary. Awful code turning into an awful game.

Similar play, similar result. The slot is WIDE OPEN and the QB throws the ball no where near anyone: https://die-hard-fans.myfootballnow.com/watch/1120#207839

AND #3 IN THE SAME GAME: https://die-hard-fans.myfootballnow.com/watch/1120#207867

But some how completes this illogical pass while looking backward. The TE is beyond 170 degrees here so definitely outside the QB's FOV: https://die-hard-fans.myfootballnow.com/watch/1120#207868

But just so you don't blow out another team, don't worry. The 52 B&R Avoid, 39 Route WR will embarrass the **** out of your 73 B&R, 92 M2M DB because ... math is hard.

But not to be out done, the 40 route RB can also embarrass your 100 M2M LB playing trail coverage: https://die-hard-fans.myfootballnow.com/watch/1120#207897

Math is still hard.

7/24 in the first half with at least 6-10 wide open drops by 90+ hands receivers. Something is going to have to give.

Start of the second half. What the actual **** is wrong with passing: https://die-hard-fans.myfootballnow.com/watch/1120#207922

One of these in a game is fluky. Two is a bad day by a QB. MORE THAN THREE IS A BUG IN THE CODE THAT SHOULDN'T HAVE BEEN RELEASED IN THE FIRST PLACE.

HOW EFFING HARD IS IT TO CODE THE GAME SO THAT A 91/100 CATCH RECEIVER ACTUALLY CATCHES THE BALL WHEN HE'S WIDE OPEN: https://die-hard-fans.myfootballnow.com/watch/1120#207961

Also, remove the magical knockdowns: https://die-hard-fans.myfootballnow.com/watch/1120#207977

Watch my game. lol Miami destroys me with repeatedly passing over the blitz. Just like Cleveland did last game. No hot reads. Just outright passing over it. My QB on the otherhand is terrible....AGAIN!

At least this time Miami's QB was actually better than mine.

My theory is that the QB was made to no longer have fatigue, therefore, if he performed at optimum v4.2 levels could you imagine the game-wide destruction.

Therefore, to compensate for QBs being fully powered for an entire game we get this over-correction. Everything you can possibly imagine to have a bad result on a lot of passing plays to level it off.

Can we please go back to v4.2.

It was supposed to be improved B & R defense (newly installed, jam up receivers) vs. QBs not wearing down during the course of a game, however, I don't think the code has played out that way.

There is little chance of that as much as I'm going to rant about 0.4.3.

So here's the deal folks, I've worked in the industry long enough to realize what 0.4.3 is. It's an abandoned release. What I mean by that is it's a release that was in development so long and had so many problems because of the scope of the change that JDB just got fed up working on it and sent it out because he became too impatient with the sunk costs of the development cycle rather than releasing a version that would have significantly moved the needle on the product.

To provide an analogy, 0.4.3 is the Windows ME or Duke Nukem Forever of MFN. For those of you old enough, remember that Windows 98 and Windows 98 SE were steady, stable, reliable products while Windows ME was hot flaming garbage. That's what we have right now in 0.4.3 unstable, abandoned code.

Of course, all of this has an easy fix. Remove all the nerfs put into place since April 1 that completely destabilized the code, and let things play out as they will.
