Re: To JDB: Blitz Pressure On Slow QBs

The question of speed should be a none issue for Qbs ability to throw the ball .......we all remember the achievements of reggie McNeal 4.40 and Chris Redman 5.37.

Here they all wait too long too throw the ball because they miss easy reads. This new code has wide open guys miss it and covered guys catch it to make up the difference . Much better than any other code, but flaws are prevelent.

Every throwing category could 6se a boost but none of it matters if the reads aren't quick enough. Brady feels people open due to process of elimination . We have pressure circles and WRs in the QBs line of sight as deciding factors. Its way deeper than that....or simpler...just throw the ball to the open guy.

"I’ve really tried to work on the first step,” Brady said. “I don’t think my instincts are in the pocket to move and scramble where I would say just scramble — those aren’t really inbred in me just based on my style of play. It never has been. I’ve just tried to stay in the pocket and buy time in the pocket to allow my receivers to get open."

There is little correlation between the times a QB is knocked down or sacked and how effective they are especially when player speed is tied in to the equation . Actually fast players try to run more often so they take more hits/knockdowns / sacks which in turn might shorten their career.

Here no qbs run it enough here cause line backers can't key on both receivers aND the qb.

Low end speed on a QB should have a place in the game, and having a strong pass blocking OL and good pass blocking TEs & RB/FBs should be a factor for that. Also, speed of WRs should be a factor in the overall timing of the passing play. If you want to relate it to the NFL, a difference of a fraction of a second means whether or not a pass is going to be successful, which is why a lot of very good college QBs at major schools or Heisman winners dont make the transition to the pros. The difference in speed changes the game, they have to "read" quicker and get rid of the ball a lot quicker.

Tom Brady is one of the Slowest QBs (and one of the Least Athletic in terms of SPARQ) in the Modern Era... yet he is the Greatest QB of All Time.

You're dam right he is lol..my 2 cents Go pats!

Ps: i see a huge difference from a slow/accurate QB in 0.4.1 compared to 0.4 Is it night and day? no..but definitely improved from what i have seen so far!

One of the slowest QB's ever was some guy named Dan Marino.....and we all know how that worked out.

What if JBD made a bonus to pass blocking based on QB Intelligence and other vision based QB stats to simulate a QB's pocket movement which is what keeps those slow QBs clean. Its the reason why a lot of supremely talented QBs get killed and the elites get more time. (this doesn't even add in the line calls that protected players like Peyton Manning. If I'm not mistaken he was almost always one of the least sacked QB's because of those 2 talents despite having middling and sometimes poor offensive lines as a whole (yes there were greats in some spots (Jeff Saturday) but he made those other spots better (I still consider Manning better than Brady because of skills like that especially Manning throwing receivers open while Brady throws them to their doom).

Manning 6'5 230 lbs...4.80 fourty and his father was an nfl qb, not that he would be better or worse but that s got to help having that influence .

Marino 6'3 211 lbs....4.89 fourty and he had a monster arm, he also played in a different passing era. Not that he would be better or worst if he played but he was a 1st rounder that was drafted in the fourth round mlb as a pitcher. Truly gifted arm.

Brady 6'3 213lbs .....5.28 fourty, he's just in a different class of athletes. He played catcher in highschool baseball. There is no comparison s. Except the success and brady wins that hands down without any pre requisites. He just wins thats it. How he does it is everything that not physically . ......except his durability/ conditioning for an average guy. He could have played the day after the superbowl......

Here, All this points to field of vision and look off being worth little to nothing. The Patriots give brady little to no elite weapons. Perhaps washed up busts but I think he has the record for most td passes to different players. Give me some FOV love!

FOV, Release and Intelligence should be MUST HAVE Attributes for Legit QBs.

Here, none of those really matter much.

Accuracy and Arm Strength would be next on the list.

It's changing. It's changing for the better. I'd like it to change more.

Raymattison, don't forget Marino was a pretty good catcher on his high school baseball team too, which had a lot to do with his release.

Well considering that JDB will sooner or later allow us to create private league feature which probably would be in the next update i would imagine sooner or later he will allow us to create a player or have a create a player feature where we could create our own Dan Marino , Peyton Manning , Tom Brady , etc. by uploading their stats on to this site then from those stats we could have a Dan Marino/Peyton Manning/Tom Brady Type of QB on our own teams.

Do have to say if that were to happen though it is more likely a pipe dream i am going to go the Tommie Frazier , Major Harris , Tony Rice , Steve DeBerg , Joe Montana , and countless others route which btw good luck trying to play against those QBs if we can create a version of the QB on here.
