Why? The only reason they are getting poached is for their offensive/defensive playbooks. While your OC/DC have a moderate effect on your players development, they are easily replaced by poaching from another team.


This is one of the many things wrong with this site. In the NFL, NCAA, and even high school, the coach under contract has to seek permission to seek a better job and break their contract, therefore giving the owner of the contract an indication of the coach's intent, and possibly being able to match or improve it.

But then when you have successful others who justify it and even encourage poaching and stealing from another, just so they can continue to be successful and show everyone how to be successful like they are, it says a lot about the ethics and integrity of others.

So I agree that the current owner of a coach under contract should have the right to match an offer from another, or at least be asked for permission and made aware that another team wishes to interview a coach under contract. If not, why have a contract? Just eliminate all the coaches each season and have a coach allocation to each team.


The part you're missing is that in this game very few people would ever give another team permission to hire their coach for a promotion. In real life there are relationships and such that usually allow that to happen. it simply wouldn't work here.

The coach part needs to be more in depth. Not very real at all. No cohesion , heck they don't even need to be similar in style and ratings . I play the same style and see little difference . I have never poached a coach either. It's all about the plays . ..imo. most leagues I leave position coaches empty. No ability to shift them around easily and if you get poached they way for the draft to get signed. The filters ****....the whole thing is about some imaginary amount of money that imagine am pretty sure imagine doesn't matter. All except my coaches are over paid. IL position coaches make very little money . Broke and exploiable. Who every heard of reupping....that not a real term. It was made up for this game.

In my opinion...very little.

Coaches don't actually "coach".
Nothing will ever impact what a player's ultimate skill ratings will be.
They only impact how fast those ultimate skill ratings become known, not how fast they reach that number, or the direction that number will move.

I think the HC is responsible for 50, OC/DC 30 and POS 20.
So, even if a player's skill potential improves/declines by 10 points for the season, the POS Coach is responsible for only 2 of those.

Therefore, they are not very important at all.

NOTE: I may have read something about some minimal in-game boost from coaches, but just like everything else regarding POS Coaches it is so insignificant it's not even worth taking the time to think about.

I think I heard this first sometime in the early 90s.

I'm not sure I've heard it in MFN, but I think it would be an appropriate use of the word when talking about contracts.

But not to hold a coach. The exploit is another cannot poach if the contract is new. This may be wrong be cause I don't poach or offer high coach contracts , but offer a two year deal every other year and you coaches will never get poached .

The higher the coaches rating the quicker blue bar turn red and if you align say 100 man coverage across all coaches HC, DC, and DBs your defensive backs will receive a sizable in game boost. I think up to 15%. I related to the same way injuries work, but the other way.

Think reupping is an auction term as in re-use the bud, when you've already put a bid in but want to increase it.
