Are there people...

who have experimented with Run Only or Pass Only Offenses, and if so what have their experiences been?

This obviously brings up a multitude of questions and benefits, while having the draw back on less variety and being predictable.

For instance, one could focus on OL that ONLY have Strength and Run Blocking, while being able to completely regard Pass Blocking on players. Which means they may be able to find 'Fits' for their Offense for cheaper because the 80 STR 80 RB 20 PB OL would have literally the same Value and Production on a Run Only Offense as the 80 STR 80 RB 80 PB OL, and I imagine if the ages are the same that the first guy would be cheaper.

Also, though you wouldn't exactly move OL to TE and WR, finding guys with Speed to add to STR and Run Block would be cheaper than looking for Balanced TE or Game Breaking WR, but would be more helpful to their particular Offense. Most DB for instance aren't used to being crushed by an 80 STR/80 Run Block WR... and while the CBs aren't generally a pain as Run Defenders, crushing them doesn't hurt.

Obviously, you'd need to still have Good Players. A 20 STR 20 Run Block OL isn't going to help you in a Run Only Offense, and seeing Defenses will gear SPECIFICALLY for you to Run, you'll likely need the STR/Run Block areas would need to be really impressive to over come the Defensive Intensity/Focus. But if you were able to be that effective, then in theory there isn't a Defense that could stop you since you'd be so good at the one thing you do.

Any thoughts or suggestions? Especially from those who have tried such.

I am going to be trying to do this this coming season in CUST-72. I am drafting a team for a Pass-Only Offense. I can let you know how it goes.

I went the other direction. Despite a perfectly capable QB in his 6th Season, passing was going nowhere with way to many INT and way to many Open Targets never getting a Look.

So I'm building a Run Only. Also, in theory, the only Expensive players should be my RBs, since my WRs are really just Blockers and my TEs are just Run Blocking OL and my QB will never throw a pass so I can get the cheapest one possible.

I Drafted an amazing TE in the 1st in this Draft but he wasn't getting any love, so I've made this shift and turns out he projects to be a **** good RB so he's about to have his first game as an actual RB tomorrow morning. The issue is, my OL isn't near where it needs to be yet.

I've already shifted my Weights, with all OL/TE/WR being Graded on Speed/Acceleration/Intelligence/Discipline/Strength/Run Blocking. I keep Sp/Acc so OL can get to 2nd Level and WRs don't whiff on CBs blowing by them before making contact. Intelligence is needed as MANY Position Changes will be occurring, and Discipline because working for 4 Yards a Pop only works if I'm not flagging myself backwards. STR/RB are for obvious reasons, since if they don't hold the block at least STR will give an initial push and if you are going to Run the Run Block is sort of something you might want.

I think mine will be cheaper... I think yours has more potential to be explosive. Mine might be more consistent if our OLs are equal in comparison to the Defenses we face.

Either way, best of luck with it and I would be happy to share notes with you moving forward.

Well the obvious downside is that it's easy to game plan against. If you're really going to do it well you need to have the talent to do so. I am going almost all pass with Kansas City in MFN27 and I take a metric **** ton of sacks lol.

Very true... but the upside is knowing what one will do and stopping what one will do are two different things.

I even believe in such a system, if the OL/TE/WR got good enough at Run Blocking that even a mediocre RB could produce... not that I intend to have a mediocre RB.

I think with the Offensive Savings I could also shift like 75% of my Cap to Defense.

Cap is easy enough to manage in this game I never concern myself with how much I'm spending on each unit.

Really? I only got this Team at the end of last Season as we were gearing up for the Draft. So I haven't had much experience with the Cap, but I do see the 20M in Dead Cap I'm facing this Season.

But my team could have been poorly managed before this, which could explain a lot of it.

In essence though I'm really seeing that out of 22 Starters, instead of investing in 5 Offense and 5 Defense 'Big Contract' I can simply get 10 Defensive 'Big Contracts' while my Offense can operate efficiently while being very cheap.

Sort of the reason the 34 was created in the NFL, to use Tweeners that weren't paid much because they weren't valued in 43 Defenses despite being highly productive in 34s (no big money Pass Rush DE, more Zone so less M2M Big Money CB, etc.) which shifted the money from the more highly paid Edges (as said, DE/CB) to the lesser paid Interior (NT/FS/SS).

So I'm always looking into Economic Advantages where and when I can, but it's good to know it's not a serious issue here.

You can just see what the players expect in bonus money, and then set your bonus percentage to 75% and just move the slider far enough over 6 seasons to hit the required total bonus. You'll see a significant difference in the cap hit. Now of course with free agents you'd still be in a bidding war. But this works well for retaining your own talent. And 20mil in dead cap is nothing, I have a team in MFN1 with over 90 mil in dead cap.

There are people that do this. It isn't an advantage.

i do it and fail to see how it isn't an advantage over those who don't seeing as i can cut my cap hit for a single year by literally 20-40 million per year sometimes when i take over a new team and when resigning a high end player to a 6 year contract i can save 3-5 million per year on the contract easily
